A Day in the Life of a Miner

For our younger visitors this session is a fun way to learn about what was like for a miner in the Kent Coalfield. Through role play and prop handling, your students will start their day by 'clocking on' with their pit check and heading down to the coalface.  Delivered by qualified teachers and ex-miners, this session is engaging, fun and informative!

Older students examine authentic mining objects and engage in dialogue with the miners in order to discover the details of their daily lives

"EXCELLENT DAY!

The children enjoyed the dressing up and meeting the real miners. They were keen to look around the museum because they were keen to find the mice. They all enjoyed getting messy with the clay and making the fossil rubbings."

"It was exceptional. The team there are doing a wonderful job and I would return every year with a class, or classes. I will be telling all of my peers and colleagues about Betteshanger and the Kent Mining Museum. A brilliant and educational trip."
