Family Fun @ KMM

Looking for something fun and free for the family? We’ve got you covered!

For quick minds try the code break challenges to see if you can open the padlock or challenge a grown up to see who the best puzzler is.

Looking for a fun day out with the family?
Step into the Kent Mining Museum and explore the world of coal mining with stories, sounds and hands-on discovery.
Watch short interviews with real miners, hop on the DOSCO simulator game, and use the touch screen to learn how fossils are made.

Neurodistinct or anxious visitors are welcome to borrow our explorers bag to keep busy minds and fingers engaged.
There is so much to do as you go round—dress up like a miner and get ready for your shift, complete a mouse hunt
to find Ross the mouse and special friend, or perhaps complete a scavenger hunt among the artefacts.

When it’s time for a calmer moment, build
K’NEX, try a jigsaw, stack a Jenga tower, or
curl up with a book in our basement gallery.
Enjoy reading The Adventures of Ross the Mouse, a book of short stories written and illustrated
by local school children.

And don’t miss the mining-themed playpark just outside the museum, for a final energy busting run-around!
